Fairy Tales And Freaks ...

I have joined a group in my Fashion photography lecture at uni. We have to come up with a concept for a shoot idea. We have decided to use the theme of circus and fairytales. I am going to look into the ideas and research them further to get ideas .
Contortionist .. Smoking with her feet ... Flexiable FREAK!!
These images are from a Vogue Uk shoot  called unbelievable fashion and fantasy. I love this picture its a modern sci fi take on a circus theme and the models almost look like sweets! I would love to use this as a concept for a shoot go big and over the top i am a very hands on person and enjoy making clothing, props and accessories myself. The abstract styling is a perfect way to draw a reader into your photos.
From the same issue of vogue there was a shoot with the freaky imaginative Tim Walker and his equally creative wife Helena Bowen Carter. I know these to are the obvious to pick when it comes to dark circus themes but i love their work and films and gain inspiration from them. I paticulary like how the model on the right of the photo has been styled in black and white and the other model was used as a prop.

Continuing with UK Vogue, this photo was inspired by Roald Dahl’s successful short story collections titled “Tales of the Unexpected” which showcases 16 of his finest tales … once again quirky and very imaginative.

Also to get ideas and inspiration i have researched into the film freaks.
Freaks is a 1932 American Pre-Code horror film about sideshow performers, directed and produced by Tod Browning and released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, with a cast mostly composed of actual carnival (funfair) performers. The film was based on Tod Robbins' 1923 short story "Spurs". Director Browning took the exceptional step of casting real people with deformities as the eponymous sideshow "freaks," rather than using costumes and makeup
